I meet Dick while at Sequoia High School, we became good friends and spent many weekend nights cruising El Camino Real to the A&W in San Mateo. We would use Dicks 55 chevy with a 327 and two quads for cruising short distances but if we were going to the beach or San Francisco we would use my chevy 6 cylinder because it was cheaper on gas. Dick joined the California Air National Guard just after high school graduation and I lost contact with Dick after I moved to Arizona.

Photo was in December 1967, with just one stripe and a gold rope Dick must have finished basic training and was on a Christmas leave while training for his career field in diesel truck repair.

Dick and I sat next to each other for half our senior year in an English class that was so memorable I can't recall its or the teacher's names. Of course, I suppose the two of us goofing around the whole time didn't help me retain anything. I played solitare and he drew pictures and made the boring a little fun. I don't recall ever getting in trouble for it either. Thanks, Dick, for the humor and the memories. I think of you often. I still have four of the pictures he drew, but will only post two here. The others require too much explanation  ;-)

What a wonderful memory, Carol, and to think you still have the photos! Thanks for posting them. This is a lovely insight into his personality. I did not know Dick at school, though I remember his face well. R.I.P.
