Richard Elliott shared this information on our Facebook page:

I bring sad news of the passing of another Class of '67 alumni. Lauren Thursby-Issel died July 16, 2013. Although Lauren did not graduate with us, she did attend Sequoia in Freshman-Soph or Jr. years. Lauren and I went through Hawes school, Mc Kinley and Sequoia together. Lauren was a very sweet and wonderful person. I thought other classmates may want to know.

Thank you Richard for letting us know. So sorry to hear it.

Lauren's passing was sadly profound for me, becasue we knew eachother and grew up in the same neighborhood, where she was like "one of the guys" as a tomboy, playing in the creek, climbing trees, and even falling of the roof at Horace Hawes school once--the event making the Rewdwood City Tribune! Several years back we reconnected through Classmates.com and began emailing eachother. She and her wonderful husband, Mike, came to visit us in Manteca a few years back. That was such a pleasant visit. Before her passing, Lauren was a volunteer at a local museum near Kingman, AZ. There she made an amazing dicovery. Tucked away in a museum drawer Lauren found Froggy! Yes, THE Froggy, from the TV morning kids show The Andy Divine Show. Here's a short Youtube clip of Andy Divine and Froggy:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L9pPFCjRPvM She was going to "rescue" froggy and put him on display in the museum, before she became ill, and passed away from cancer. Everytime I visit Redwood City and see the creek or Hawes school, I think of Lauren. Sure miss you girl!!!
